Dual Sprint Results at Last!

From what I could see out the window of the timing tower at Taupo Motorsport Park on Sunday 14 September the brilliant weather and capacity field meant there were many smiling people around. We certainly had some variety, from Mike Lowe’s Yamaha motorbike engined Bambina through to the thundering, though ponderous, Ford Fairmont of James Post. It was wonderful to hear David Nathan’s 3.4 litre Triumph Stag at full song making sounds that make petrol heads go weak at the knees. It was also heartening to see my own car being used pretty effectively by son Tod, despite its limited use and his twice yearly driving it certainly looks the part through the esses. Blair Thomson also flew the Fiat flag well, his Schedule PR Punto nimble and fast, eventually only beaten by 2 litre turbo 4WD cars! Stephen Martindale, who has done a LOT of the legwork for the series this year finally got out and played, making sure that Aaron Mullins’ motor was suitably exercised and he beat home some much more modern machinery.
Congratulations to Stephen Barker on winning the day in his Mitsubishi Evo 6, well done to Paul Harvie again, and to Ben Sunkell and Blair Thomson for 3rd equal. That made Blair fastest Fiat ahead of Stephen Martindale and Mike Lowe. Fastest female was Nicola Burley, again in a tractor, ahead of Lenare Martin and Emma Verryt. We only had one Junior unfortunately, but Bradly Martin improved throughout the day to finish 69th. As has been our habit this season, the second to last pair had a minor coming together - both Minis and no serious damage.
Attached are the results, and the series results to date. These results wanted to stay hidden, I spent most evenings this week extracting the information. I find that I don’t have the time for this, and I am unhappy with having to keep all of you in suspense, so we will have a better system next year. We are considering hiring the transponders and associated system, but that comes at a cost. We will also look at getting the current system improved and simplified I will keep everyone informed.
