Below are all the bits and pieces you need for the Series to get started. The Portfolio contains the basic rules that set out how the Series, and individual events will be run. There are Supplementary Regulations Part 2 for Motorkhana and Autocross too just to get underway along with a bunch of Entry forms in various guises to suit all tastes.
Get in here and read the rules and get your entries in as early as possible.

Manfeild in May

The Holden Special Vehicles Club is holding another sprint meeting at Manfeild Park Raceway, Feilding, on Saturday 19th May 2012.

This event is open to both men and ladies with a choice of single and dual sprints and competing in a range of classes from V6 to Race. This year we are also running a “Novice” Class for first-time competitors in an endeavour to attract new sprinters to the thrill of driving at speed on a race track in a safe and controlled environment.

This has always been a great day out in the past and we are confident that this event in 2012 will match the enjoyment and excitement of previous years. Please find the Manfeild Sprint Entry Form attached for your information.

Fiat Club Nationals 2011

Fiat Club Nationals update - not long to go now!
The base for the weekend will be the Taupo Events Centre http://taupovenues.co.nz/tec/home/ . The plan is to meet and register at the Events Centre from late morning on Sat (I will be there with the Fiat Club van from 11am). As you register we will park up for a “Pride of Ownership” display until departing mid afternoon for the mystery trial around Taupo. I had booked for 30 people for Saturday nights dinner and it looks like we have (surprisingly) hit that number. I will be in touch with those people this week to confirm. We have a set menu to enable prior payment, and BYO wine.
Sunday morning (not to early though!) we will hold a Gymkhana at the events centre.
In an effort to keep costs low there is no registration cost for the event, however the Trial will be $10 per CAR, while the Gymkhana will be $10 per ENTRANT.
We will also have the BBQ running on both days.

Fiat Club Nationals 2011

It’s been a few years, but we think the time has come to revisit “The Nationals”!
The loose plan at the moment is a show’n’shine on Saturday followed by a fun run or trial, then dinner on Saturday night. Sunday will likely be a Gymkhana.
A number of members have already commited to the weekend and will be making a group booking for accomodation soon. Contact a commitee member if you’re keen.
We would love to see some of the many old Fiats tucked away in garages come out for this social event, so how about it?
Accommodation available at De Bretts or other motels in Taupo if you can’t find what you want at De Bretts.
Dinner has 30 places booked at Portofinos, let them know if you want to secure one of those places.
Date is 19 and 20 November 2011.

Tarmac Series Dual Sprint Results

Hi - finally,
I have results! Through a few issues that didn’t change any of the positions, but did have our poor timer hassled by me when all the transponders that we had used had just been stolen from his father’s car, I have finally got all the possible times together and into the results spreadsheet.
What a great day at the track. 73 entrants paid their money and generally turned up. One of two of us had difficulties during the day, mine appeared to be very public as I checked out the ability of the sand trap to slow progress after it transpired that having the brake pedal go all the way to the floor doesn’t actually slow the car. Having a car catch fire on the start line was certainly dramatic, our scrutineering venue provider found that a bent push rod isn’t ideal, but is fixable on the day, and unfortunately for Howard Oates, he had his second DNF in a row when the blue PBFOOT 124CC again appears to want to allow pressure to escape from areas that it shouldn’t.
But those were the disappointments.
There were a heap of highlights, lots of cars ripping up the tarmac on an extremely interesting track. We had variety to die for, everything from Starlets to Commodores, 998cc to 5700cc, normally aspirated carburettor fed engines with points and plugs through to real life playstation clones that need computers and electronic geniuses to make them work, everyday drivers through to the purpose built Group N replica Toyota Corolla AE86 of Steve Wilcock. (I could listen to that all day, a glorious sound of a proper race engine). What was the common denominator? Smiles! Miles and miles of smiles.
The fact that it was Fathers’ Day didn’t detract from the fun, in fact it was probably a help, fathers should be able to do what they want on Fathers’ Day, and many of us did. Not too many father and child combinations running, but one which was demonstrated all that is wrong with modern youth, Mark Warren had the audacity to beat his father Andrew - on Fathers’ Day. Come on Mark, what’s that about, show some respect for your elders and let us win on our day. Oh, that’s right, you beat everyone didn’t you. Well done to a young man who no-one really noticed going so fast during the day.
